Transforming a space from "before" to "after" is always exciting, and this bedroom and ensuite bathroom renovation is no exception. Pattie Kelly, the interior designer behind the project, helped a homeowner turn their space into the airy, peaceful, and functional retreat.

One of the most striking features of the bedroom is the use of fabric on the draperies, Euro pillows, and lumbar pillow in the new cozy chair.

To make the space kid and pet-friendly, Kelly replaced the carpet with durable laminate flooring and a shag area rug. She also enhanced the stunning tray ceiling with wallpaper and fresh paint colors, updated all the lighting, and used a mix of metals to keep the space interesting and coordinate with the bathroom.

A seating area for reading was also created, as well as designated open space for yoga practice. Kelly worked with the homeowner's existing furniture and added new pieces with accessories for a complete, polished space.

In the bathroom, the homeowner wasn't in love with the original style but didn't have the budget for a full renovation. Kelly's solution was to minimize the fixed finishes that had to remain and to emphasize the new pieces the homeowner loved. The simple addition of framing in the bathroom vanity mirror was a game changer and repainting the walls in a more neutral hue helped blend the tile and flooring into the background. The light fixtures and hardware were replaced and the space was accessorized with artwork, resulting in a lovely, polished, and functional bathroom the homeowner can enjoy using every day.
